What a day!!! I told Peter that the beach was great, but I was really a rocks and water and forest and mountains kind of girl. So this is the second excersion this week to a BEAUTIFUL and MAJESTIC waterfalls of Nethercote, NSW. And jeez, what a crazy rock jump it had!! But I'm getting ahead of myself, first we drive in this dirt road to the parking lot and I'm worried that we are not even going to be able to get out of the drive, its so steep. And then we walk in and there is an official sign saying all the emergency information on it and telling us to be careful and not climb the rocks. It says there is no communication out here, but cell phones work, which we don't have one. But at least it gives all the contact info and our exact geographic location in case of emergency. So by the time we are climbing up the back side of the falls, I am already figety of an emergency. We climb up and up, in a place that looks a lot like Seneca Rocks sort of thin rock outcropping, but with land on one side and falls on the other.
(see movie that I added here) Finally get to one of the beautiful pools and falls.
Peter goes exploring up the canyon, while I sit and contemplate the height that I find myself at.
Peter goes down to check below in the pool for no branches or obstructions, then jumps
(and screams and curses a bit I might add). I sit with my fear for a while longer, stand on the edge and stand with my fear. Peter is at the bottom poised with a camera and I jump and scream and the look on my face in the picture explains it all.
The rest of the day is lovely,
We jump a few more times (much easier). We go back up the river canyon where the rock walls go up on either side and you have to swim through deep water, surrounded by rocks and a river curving around rocks in front of you
and another falls farther
Beautiful place!!!! Nerve-wracking but beautiful!
Chris, thee (and Anna and Caleb too) would have LOVED it!!!
