Mark made arrangements for a Birthday Dinner with some of our new friends. Milly told me that I needed to try Shabu Shabu....so that is what we did!

It was great having Shiori, Yoshimi and Naoko with us. They are amazing women, Japanese concierges from the Bureau Shinagawa. They have each spent time in English speaking countries and have been so helpful and kind to us!!

The menu was in Japanese.  It helped having our own translators!!

Randy-san, our friend from the UK, (who introduced us to 'What the Dickens' pub from a previous post) helped to make the evening complete.

Randy gave me an incredible Tenugui. I was able to get the words translated. It signifies the Summer Wares that were sold during the Festivals in ancient Japan. The Sakurai's gave me a beautiful Tsumami Kanzashi. It can be pinned on an Obi, worn as a hair pin, or even placed on a corsage. Both of these gifts already hold a special place in my heart...and they will continue to remind me of the traditions and sweet people of Japan.

The girls from the Bureau surprised me with a gorgeous flower arrangement and yummy birthday cake.

Let me just say that the Shabu Shabu was not only delicious but fun to cook, too!!!  We will try to make it back in Texas.

On our walk back "home" we stopped at one of Randy's favorite pubs 82Ale House...reminds him of home. He bought me one of the strongest and strangest tasting Margarita's that I have ever had!!

I received many Birthday Greetings via email and Facebook from family and friends!
Thank you all for remembering me and helping to have made this a Birthday to Remember!
