Sooo..we've arrived safely in Cambodia (after negotiating a series of buses and public transport!)

We feel very proud because we managed to cross the border without any necessity for the usually obligatory bribe. Our research paid off, as our guide book pointed out that Cambodia can also be aptly named "Scambodia"!

We had a night stop over in a small border town where we got to sample some local cuisine. Femmy had rice with various chicken related offal and Ruth has discovered that as a vegatarian she better like rice...a lot!

Sisophon boasted an impressive array of cockroaches, of which one took a fancy to Ruth's foot. The result was us running faster than we had in a long time.

This town also introduced us to the Cambodian fashion of wearing matching pajama's as day wear. The ultimate in comfort...lets start a trend!

We are now in Siem Reap and are looking forward to basing ourselves here for the next week and seeing the breathtaking temples of Angkor. We also plan to spend a night in the Prek Toal bird reserve near lake Tonle Sap. Exciting!

Our hostel is an absolute bargain at $2 a night and has a great sunset bar overlooking the city.

We have found the Cambodians very friendly people with a good sense of humour and are attempting to learn the lingo (mostly from our cowboy friend who we met in a taxi!) Hopefully it will be an improvement on our lingistic attempts in Thailand which resulted in Ruth asking where Chow Mein was and Femmy asking how we could get the bus to "thank you".

We're both well and having a great time. Ruth is slightly blotchy at present due to a possible reaction to Doxy but is is becoming a more and more normal colour by the hour! Femmy's bowels are still intact and she's glowing like Joanna Lumley according to Ruth.

Hope you're looking forward to the next instalment..over and out.

Glad to hear that you are both still smiling, I'm sure that by the end of this trip you will think of the cockroach as a friend... well maybe!. The blog is fabulous and gives all of us 'stay at homes' an insight into the world of adventure. Keep it up, we all miss you.
Love to you both. Mum and Scrumpy xx

It all sounds great. We also have been dealing with creepy crawlies - Mick's (the dog) fleas have been dealt a final fatal blow by a sticky shampoo that has left his coat very shiny. Well done for trying to use some local language - your anocdotes made us laugh. Your blog is so entertaining - it cheered us up after a day at work. keep it up. Dad x
