Where I stayed
Today was incredible. Besides me hardly getting any sleep as this Palace (Yes the Dalkeith House is an 18th century palace) is an icebox, I had so much fun today. I had my first class and I have to say I was entirely interested the whole time, despite the fact that the class was 3 hours long. We had our first Scottish meal today for Burn's Night. For those of you who don't know, Burns night is a celebration of a the famous Scottish poet, Robert Burns, who wrote Auld Lang Syne.
For dinner we had Haggus (which is amazingly good) served with a mix of mashed potatoes and mashed turnips a whiskey sauce and a tomato with savory oats. We also had a phenomenal desert (I can't remember the name, but when I do I'll get back to you).
After dinner we celebrated Burns night by learning how to dance Ceilidh (Scottish Folk Dance). It was so much fun! A few of us finished the night by visiting a few of the local pubs. The service was excellent and the bartenders were so friendly. This wonderful Crocodile Dundee looking chap told us this hilarious joke.
Why haven't any women gone to the moon?
It hasn't been cleaned.
:) We ended the night by watching Euro trip. Now plenty of whiskey and coke's later and a nice movie it is 3:30 am and I get to read my Scottish Politics homework :). Tomorrow our goal is to go to the disco! What an adventure that will be!
Cheers!
