Got up at 7:30 in the morning for a two hour drive down to the heart of Egypt's Sinai area: Mount Sinai. Mount Sinai is historically known for it was here where Mozes received the 10 commandments from God through a burning bush. A monastery is build around the bush (which supposedly is still alive)... *cough* ... But anyway we decided to climb the mountain all the way to the top (2260 meters), seriously NOT a piece of cake. But on the top we had a beautiful view over the rugged desert landscapes of Sinai. We stayed there for 4 hours to see the sun go down. I actually fell asleep with my head on a rock for an hour, supposedly snoring like crazy I heard afterwards. I blame the lack of oxygen up there! ;D

Moreover, I had brought a small bush myself up there with the intention of creating Rutger's Burning Bush at the top. The wind was blowing like crazy, so right as the sun went under I tried lighting it. I had only four matches... it was a fierce battle, but the bush didn't catch fire! Sulky-lipped I stared at Rene and Steve, whom both didn't have a lighter. So I ran up and from the handful of people up there one had a lighter! I hopped back down like a Capricorn (which was actually the first time I ever felt like my star-sign) and tried lighting the bush. After a little help of Steve it finally did! I ran back to the camera, which was set-up on my tripod. Turned it on and ... ALMOST TOO LATE! The bush basically did one huge ass flame and then dying after 3 seconds in the strong wind... but! I at least have one picture of the burning bush on mount Sinai with the sun setting! And hot damn it was worth it!

This little project actually took a little too much time, cause we had to go back down in the dark... we took the stairs which one monk had built a long time ago out of repentance. A little bit dangerous but thank god Rene and Steve had brought flashlights. Back home we were so tired that we fell in a deep long sleep after a cold beer and a big portion of Egyptian Koshary :)

Mozes was led by the burning bush, seems that..
you are led by your inner voice about where to go and what to do..
