I woke up way too late, I was supposed to meet up with Omar - but they hadn't shown up either. I decided to walk to their father's store and ask his phone number. I managed to get hold of him and he picked me up in the internet cafe. We met up with Rakim too and they took me down to the other side of the Nile to get a ISIC (International Student) Card. To get discounts all around the world. For 12 euros I had it, not even a fake one! So now I'm a student again! Woooooooooooooo! I feel so young! ;P
From there on we just walked walked and walked. It is what i have done for 2 days now; we walk. All day, outside. Crossing the street is an adventure every time, in the words of Rakim: "just close your eyes and go". If you wait, you'll wait forever. Every hour or 2 we sit down in a coffee shop and drink tea. Or we go to a restaurant and eat egyptian food: I have asked them to not have me eat the same thing twice. Which is working out fine till now! We drink humus with incredibly hot "chili powder" from the street cars. And they know where everything is cheap and good. I feel so incredibly lucky to have met these two guys; they are so awesome! It's the way they live, they are on the street all day, if they run out of money. They work a bit more, Omar told me he can't even leave the country cause he hasn't got a passport (he first has to serve in the military) - but he will some day. Remember you two: you can always stay with me in Amsterdam, once i'm there again! :)
Right around sunset we hired a "Faluca" to sail over the Nile.. they knew the sailor so we got it cheap. Another two good friends of Omar and Rakim joined us and we sailed around for an hour; a had brought some beers and handed out my mum's chocolate (seriously mum, it was too much! ;) - Mohamed even took out some Egyptian grown goodies to smoke on the boat... the REAL relaxing life! ;-)
Let me bring out some pictures :)
