Well, after sitting in Baltimore for about 6 hours, we finally boarded a plane to Newark.  Weather held up the plane and they were not letting any planes into Newark.  Our original departure time was around noon but we left around 3pm or so and arrived in Newark about 2 hours before our flight to Brussels, Belgium.

I did have the opportunity to meet a member of F Co. 506 of the 101st and had the pleasure of chatting with him in the airport.  His name is Art Petersen and he is quite a pistol for his age. Two Combat jumps, one on Normandy and the second in Holland.  The second jump he was hit by shrapnel before he left the plane and was ordered to stay on the plane.  After everyone jumped, the co-pilot came back through the plane and ordered him out of the plane even though he was wounded because the plane was going down in flames.  So he jumped, landed, and one of the first people he came across was his Sgt. who had told him to stay in the plane.  Art replied that if I would have I would be in that pile of plane right over there.  His C47 landed in flames not more than 100 yards from Art.

The stories are something.
