In a moment of drunken madness I apparently agreed to go horse riding, so Bjarnhilde a new found Norwegian friend and I set off for a canter through the city of Sucre into the dry wilderness. My faithful stead Hatsu pulled at the reins desperate to be let go and when I did eventually get the guts to let him loose he flew down the dusty road scaring the living daylights out of me. A novice to the ways and speed of horses I didn't scream but held on for dear life incapable of doing anything to slow the pace at which he swiftly reached as we raced away from Sucre. When I did eventually snap out of my fear and regained control we were well ahead of the others. My heart racing to pump the released adrenaline around my body and my knuckles were white from the grip around the reins... Of course I loved every second!
After some distance we trotted into a beautiful Hacienda for lunch after which, we trekked to the seven waterfalls, all but mere dribbles in this the dry season however after a bit of rock climbing were reached one with a deep pool and fool that I am I decided to climb atop and plunge into the near frozen waters. After gasping for breath on reaching the surface and dragging myself from the pool as I stood shivering in my boxers, I realised that maybe I should have tested the temperature first!
We walked back to the farm along the dry riverbed enjoying the warm sun.
