Sunday saw me onto the bus to tegucigalpa for the +- 6 hour trip - through some exquisite scenery: hills, mountains, valleys, pine forests, rivers, lakes - breathtaking. i discovered Brian Eno on my ipod and his tunes were the perfect soundtrack. i checked in again to Tobacco road hostel and bumped into Troy, an ozzie guy that I met in Chichicastenago, Guatemala (the one who's been travelling in Iran and Sudan etc). we had chinese for dinner - huge portions for super cheap - honduras is great for cheap food!

On monday i did the city tourist thing - went to the art gallery which had some stunning art - not too much of the ancient religious art which i've already overdosed on but lots of exciting contemporary stuff. I gave Tito (the theatre director that i met in La Ceiba) a call and went over to his house that evening. he showed me a documentary about Garifuna culture and then we went to La Milonga, a great little bar / restaurant / cafe for some vino ;-)

Tuesday was very chilled but i did have a very high point - i bought my polka dot party dress! saw it in a shop and just had to have it - i feel like a mix of marilyn monroe and gwen stefani in it! of course its not exactly the most practical thing to buy when one is on the road for such an extended period but hey - every girl needs a party dress! now i just need shoes... and a party... and a date... ;-)

On wednesday, i went down to the Garifuna centre (Tito had introduced me to the people there) to get some info and took some pics etc. Then missioned up to the huge statue of Christ that overlooks the city with Troy and another guy - raced up there, spent a total of 5 minutes taking photos and then charged back to the city because the Garifuna centre was having a performance in the central park that was to start punctually at 3pm - reinforced numerous times by the lady at the centre. of course, we arrived and they had only just started setting up the sound system!! its called honduran time i'm told.... eventually they started the show at 4.30pm!! so i filmed for a while - the dancing was very good- and then had to go off to another gig at Hotel Honduras Maya - a very swanky place. The gig turned out to be a jazz band which was nice but it was a corporate function so I went upstairs and had a few toots with troy and Tito and Rosilin, a actress friend of tito's who was visiting from Spain. the night got a little wild since we proceeded from there to another bar / restaurant - with lots of upmarket yuppie types - and had even more wine, i met some or other superfamous honduran footballer, ate excellent carpaccio and eventually had to phone to tell Tom, the cranky owner of the hostel, that i would not be making it in by the 11pm curfew! it was a fab night although i felt the effects of all that vino the next day!

Tito invited me to stay at his house that night again, instead of at the hostel, so i took up his offer and moved. I was back at the Honduras May hotel that night because Guillermo and his band had a gig - so I got to see my friend Mito again! I was rather exhausted though so watched their show and then made my way home to bed - had to be up early the next day to catch the bus to nicaragua...
