I made it here on Monday and the trip was great! The flight took a total of 1 hour in my head b/c of those amazing sleepers that the doctor at home gave me for the flight. I stayed in Auckland for the first 2 1/2 days and saw all there is to see in a big city. It was great fun with the bars, cool shops and friendly people, and amazing beaches but, i really wanted to hit the road and go south. I managed to get a ride anywhere my heart desires with my new friend Sonja. We are just gonna split gas and do our own thing.

We hit the road out of Aukland and it's amazing beaches yesterday and heading for The Waitomo caves a few hours south. The drive was so sweet! The mountains, lakes and rolling hills literally took my breath away. We got set up at a backpackers, went out for a few drinks on the town and met some cool people playing pool. In the morning we booked a tour of the Waitomo Caves. The tour guide drove us to this empty field of rolling hills and we were a little confused. he told us to put on some wet suits and follow him until we hit this massive hole in the ground! The hole widened as it reached the bottom to the Waitomo cave floors. the drop was about 100 feet and the only way to get down was to ab-sail (drop down will a rope). I jumped off the cliff and eventually hit the cave floor. The cave was massive and like nothing I had ever seen before. We had headlights on our helmets to see around the caves. We saw eels right away and actually pet them. There were these bright coloured glow worms that covered the cave as we walked through through black water thigh high. The tour took a couple hours and we finished it by doing some major rock climbing up the 100 foot wall we originally dropped from.

We hit the road as after lunch and am now in Rotorua. This is the most unstable volcanic place in the world! It stinks of sulfer, but is so beautiful. there are hot springs everywhere smoking geysers every 100 yards. I'll let you know how it goes.
