I stayed in Wonaka for the past few days just trying to soak some New Zealand culture, and some serious sun. I was offered a chance to try wake boarding so I jumped on it. The deal was that for $250 the boat would take us out for 2 1/2 hours, so if more people join it costs much less per person. I managed to recruit a couple off of the street while they were waiting for the bus, and another girl grabbed two more people. We had 6 in total, which dropped the cost considerably. The first girl did an awesome job! She dove in the water, slipped on the board and cruised like a pro as soon as the boat started pulling her. The same followed for the next couple of people. Then came my turn. I figured it was a piece of cake...but i was so wrong. I was pretty good wake boarding on my face. I was also really good at using various swear words while sliding on my face, but could not get up for the life of me. A few others went after me and all had the same success. Vertigo is my excuse.

Next up: Queenstown (The extreme Sports Capital of the World)
