We left Dunedin and debated whether to drive to the Southern tip of the island, we decided to go for it and it was a decision that we didn't regret the views were tremendous. Along the ocean route there are various viewpoints and beaches to stop off at, one in particular called New Brighton that couldn't have been further in looks from it's British namesake, beautiful sand with huge blue waves
crashing on the shore.

Another highlight was Nugget Point, where a light house overlooks several rocky islets that are full of wildlife.  As we walked along the cliff path the wind was fierce, but we persevered and made it past the lighthouse and with the wind howling around us we watched the seals swimming in the pools below and the albatrosses flying above them. We very nearly got blown off the cliff though so decided to call it a day!

We continued our journey with the remaining scenery breathtaking until we arrived at the town of Invercargill, a fairly insignificant place with Scottish heritage that seemed to have far more liquor shops than people, somehow we had selected the dodgiest campsite full of frightening looking long termers who sat outside their trailers drinking and staring at the 'outsiders'. We were fairly sure there was some sort of horrendous incident heading our way but thankfully the night went off safely!
