Today is back dated to tell you what we did....

Well we had a bit of a later start and got the tube up to the Vatican. We got to the square and had a coffee and a chicken bu n which turned out to be our christmas dinner. We then went on up to the Basillica to wait for the Pope. He did come out on time to a fan fair and spoke for a while in Italian which we are not good enough at to spot more than he was not best pleased with terrorism. He did greet in an endless list of ņanguages including English yey! There were a lot of people there and it was quite something for a very different christmas day indeed. I think it was quite amazing to b a part of and I was glad to have gone. It was a beautful day as well, not a cloud and we basked in the sun! Of course almost everything was shut so we headed home on the tube.

This is probably the mostt memorable bit! We didnt realise there was only one tube home. Great plan guys! So if you saw how many people there were at the Vatican then most of them wanted the tube home. When it got there we were pretty near the train doors with about 10 people behind and part of a line several hundred meters long. Anyway there was a litteral stampeed. I have never been quite so shocked in most o in a queue, it was not British like at all lol. I was nearly pushed to the ground and i tried to hold back people pushing me on to a push chair with a toddler in it. There was no need for it because there was room for everyone even if it was squashed and it was made worse by the train staff making a fuss about lining up properly as it was the last train. By the time we got on people were crying and the guy with the push chair almost had a fight with someone. So this was in summary christmas day in the city of Christianity after a blessing of peace and good will by the Pope....and the people were quite happy to trample a little child to death so they didnt have to walk home. Quite Roman indeed.

Still all was well after and we cooked up some steak for tea and played cards until bed time. Oh and the stupid girl down the hall broke the internet making now the first time I could get on.
