Every evening or chance she could get, Mom wanted to walk. Often we would walk the streets of Winchcombe or the paths on the east side of town. So when trials on the flatter paths around Winchcombe Mom had lots or problems and it turned out a little wet we called Christine McKelvey, who was recovering from surgery at home. Christine was as lively as ever and after a fun visit we went around the corner to the Royal Oak pub and had a pleasant chat with a couple who had moved into town for retirement. Beer was great - in their website they might refer to it as a Real Ale - called LandLord. It was raining hard so no pictures.
Then we went across Cheltenham to Charlton Kings to where we used to live at 55 Little Herberts Rd (1970-1973)
We walked up a very muddy and slippery Wistley Hill. Mom didn't have her wellies yet and for her the ups and downs in the mud and the wet grass were like ice. We eventually made it back down. Drove down to the Merry Fellow in and used their parking lot We did a not to interesting walk to the park and cemetery. Back to the pub for great beer and a pub dinner with peas and chips and nice conversation with a laborer/rugby player. Talked about promotion of teams and players within teams and the tradition of drinking each other's urine in beer.
