Day 5 - Wednesday
POWDER DAY 2!!! It had snowed for most of Tuesday which meant that conditions were still great for skiing and boarding on Wednesday. Temperatures continued to plummet as we hit -14 which provided some incredibly cold runs!!! So much so that icicles were being formed on your cheeks as you cruised down the run and the only way to tell if your nose was running was to lip your upper lip....
The best purchase for the holiday was my set of walkie talkies. After the initial abuse that I took for having them, everybody decided that it was a really good idea. The problem with the walkie talkies is that once one gets dropped in the snow somewhere on the run, the other one becomes a bit pointless. Alex was fined for this but got full marks for finding the couple that picked it up whilst skiing later in the day. I was to pre-occupied with drawing sexual positions on the steamed up gondola window to notice that I had dropped my goggles, 10 minutes after Alex had lost my walkie and thus faced a fine myself! (Sorry Natz, I promise to replace them!!!)
Much fun was had by everybody though as all 20 headed for the gondola to make the best of the wide open slopes and off piste boarding! Most people were getting to a relatively similar level which was nice as it meant that both boarders and skiers could start going down the runs together.
There was a snowboarding taster on offer to the skiers which consisted of 2 hours boarding tuition for those that thought that they might enjoy boarding instead of skiing. Karen, Colleen and Tash went along but all decided that they would stick to skiing for a while.
Wednesday night proved to be highly entertaining. The idea of a boys (the go-go girls were beckoning) and girls (the maximus show) night was scraped to watch the show put on by the instructors. The go-go girls made an appearance but as was commented, looked a little lost with no pole to hang onto, although Ryan did volunteer his services... Once the rather dismal show was over (the most entertainment was watching some bloke in his BMW trying to get out the parking lot whilst spinning on the ice and the boys doing rude things with the icicles... ) we headed back into the restaurant for some much needed alcohol. Drinking games ensued and Stefan was introduced to 'the d word', thumb master and 18 South Africans singing Shosholoza which was started by the Bulgaria waiter.... Ya! Both Alex's was equally as puzzled. Stefan in turn took it upon himself to introduce us to 'Norstravets' in preparation for our Bulgarian evening.
Kevin and Kirst were later fined for public displays of sexual positions...
