. An hour into the trip a lady turns around to us and says in perfect english"so where are you from", we were kinda surprised cause no one speaks english here, i mean no one. so after chatting with her for a bit it turns out she has friends in chilliwhack and had lived in the states as a kid. Along the road she ordered lunch for us at a sea side warung (between food cart and crappy restaurant) and when we pulled up in the bus they had lunch ready for all of us. 2$ for one of the biggest pieces of fish ive ever had as well as salad and rice of course. So after telling our new friend yemi we had no idea where we were gonna stay she called ahead and made reservations for us at the hotel in town. now all we had to do is organize our tickets to the togean islands and relax now.
So after a few days of doing nothing in manado we headed towards Gorontalo to catch the ferry south. The buying of a bus ticket turned out to be a little bit of a hassle. After going to the bus ticketing office we told them we wanted 2 tickets to gorontalo for the next day. well then the guy tells us he will drive us in a SUV to where we want to go. we thought it was kinda shady the guy was gonna do it for the same price as the local bus. So we told the guy we would rather take the bus cause i could sit in the aisle and have more leg room, he smiled and knoded. The next day we went to the pick up point we decided on and waited to see what kind of transport we will be riding on. We waited and waited some more and minutes before we gave up hope a really nice bus pulled up and we were the only people getting on, after making sure it was the same price the driver gave us the thumbs up and and a snack we were on our way. For an hour we drove around town picking up people and their bags and what not
