Mombacho Volcano

So day two...
After a night of drinking 2 boxes-o-wine, Jackie, Suzanne and I all got up nice and early to go and see one of the volcanoes just outside of the city Grenada. So since we all arent quite accustomed to how much things cost, how long it takes to get places, etc., we were not the most efficient of travelers. First off, it took 2 hours to get to a city literally 20km away... at one point the driver was actually reading the newspaper waiting for people to get on the bus, but we were parked on the side of the street in a town of maybe 200 people. C'mon, like seriously. Then we got to Mombacho, and walked up to the tour booth in order to pay for our hike. So, because we are keeners, all three of us agreed that we should just walk up to the top on the road rather than pay the extra ten dollars to take the shuttle. The guys who worked there must have just been thinking "fucking gringos." We walked 1000m up in elevation, on a cobble stone road, through the jungle, in the 30 degree weather. Lets just say, my ass will never recover. It was so steep, on the walk down, we had to walk backwards just to spare the wear and tear on our knees. This hike made the Grouse Grind look like a highway in the prairies. But all in all, it was worth it for the experience. How many people do you know who can say: " I climbed a volcano with a ninja named Jackie Chan." Seriously, so worth it.
