Good morning to all!

Today is Monday, 22 August 2011 and the official end of our escorted tour. We are moving to the Conrad Hilton Hong Kong today to spend our last three nights before returning home on Thursday.  We got most of our things together last night; all that's left this morning is toiletry bags and PJs.  This morning after breakfast we walked around the hotel taking our final few shots and settling the bill before departure.  We met Jim and Diana during breakfast to say one final goodbye; their flight was not until 1925 this evening.  The Janells’ had already departed for New York at 0545 this morning.

Finally at about 1200, we got a taxi for the short ride from Kowloon to Hong Kong Island.  We basically moved across the Hong Kong Harbor to the business district.  Once at the hotel we were escorted to the check-in area.  The attendant welcomed us and checked his computer.  He acknowledged we were in the system and said our room was ready, but said he couldn’t check us in at his location.  Did we come in the wrong door?  My jaws were getting ready to blow up, when he explained because we were Diamond VIP Members, someone would escort us to the Executive Lounge on the 59th floor for check-in.  I smiled and deflated my jaws…close call.  A lady met us in the lobby and escorted us to the Executive Lounge.  We had a "Peak View" room, but were upgraded to a “Harbor View” room.   Once we completed check-in, we went to our room to unwind a bit.  Our bags arrived shortly and we took out stuff for the next couple of days.  In about 30 minutes, our door bell rang; it was time for our afternoon tea (Stop It!!!).  Then shortly afterwards, the lady reappeared with our welcome fruit basket!  This is what I’m talking about!!

We took in the spectacular harbor view, took pictures, and read more about the city and hotel amenities.  We discovered there is a mall that connects to the hotel.  After resting awhile, we were off to the mall.  It is kind of on the high-end side; my wallet was threatened!  We walked around and did some people watching and found the ATM.  At about 1700, it was back to the hotel and happy hour.  We had a couple of drinks and snacks (it was enough for a meal).  At little after 1900 we returned to our room for the night.  The view across the harbor was awesome.  I took a few night pictures.  The business side of the harbor (our side) put on a building light show every night at 2000; we couldn’t see much of it.  Tomorrow is Disney!

Sweet Dreams!
