I think I've found it. What Francois Rabelais was talking about. I've discovered the Great Perhaps.

I feel as if I've already done so much. Even though, in truth, I spent the last 20 hours doing nothing but dozing off on planes, buses, airport terminals & now finally, in the common room at the training school. But it's just the feel of it all. The mystery & the endless possibilities. The look on everyone's faces as they board their planes, as if they too know they're headed towards something great. I feel as if I've been thrown into the deep end of the culture shock pool. Upon arriving I thought, 'It's only America, it won't be that different!'. What I didn't account for was being the only Australian partaking in this program. I'm living in a dorm with about 20 others so far (with 20 more arriving in a few hours) & every last one of them have flown in from Germany. I'm sure I must come off either incredibly rude or just hopelessly shy, as they all keep chatting away in German, only to receive nothing but blank looks from me.

On the plus side, we all have the day off tomorrow. No classes, no schedules. Just 24 straight hours to kick this silly jetlag & explore the campus grounds. I must say, even though we arrived in the darkness of the night, I'm already quite in love with the look of this place. It's all red brick cafeteria's, high story dorm rooms & vast expanses of football fields, picnic tables surrounded by trimmed hedges & old Victorian libraries. It's virtually everything you'd imagine from an American college. But then again, that could just be how I want it to look!
