We had two days in Alice Springs and yet again we had more bad weather expected and it came !  When we arrived on Sunday afternoon after driving in the rain we soon met up with our new friends we met at Kings Canyon. The kids were so excited to see their friends plus to get to ALICE's town!

Monday we spent the morning at Desert Park learning about Aboriginal culture and the nature and animals that belong to Central Australia.  We then did a few errands as we had a bit of maintenance that was required on the caravan.  We then realised that the sun was actually shining and it was quite warm,  the kids got excited and eager to get back for a swim.  This didn't last long as the pool was not heated, Alice made it all the way in to her knees!  Oliver lasted quite a while however when his lips turned blue it was time for us to drag him out!

We spent the evening with our friends beside our van eating Sticky Date and Chocolate Pudding and Ice cream,   we are doing it tough!

Tuesday we were hoping to go 4 wheel driving into Palm Valley but we were advised it wasn't a great idea as there had been so much rain.  So instead we went to visit some of the beautiful sites.  Firstly we went to a reptile park where Oliver was kissed by a Blue Tongue Lizard!  We then went for a short walk to see Simpsons Gap and then we took a challenging walk for the kids to Standley Chasm,  as there had been so much rain both these walks were covered in water.  By the end of the walk Oliver wasn't trying to step from one rock to the next too avoid getting wet..... straight through the middle was much easier.   We were mesmerized by Standley Chasm we loved the amazing formations and the colours within the rocks.

Tuesday night we had a farewell dinner at a pizza restaurant with our friends as we were all heading in different directions.  The evening ended with an impromptu solo from Ian making up some ridiculous songs which had everyone in fits of laughter.....except for the night patrol man advising us to keep the noise down as it was 9.40pm........oh so late!
