Thursday we headed off for a 3 hour journey to Ayres Rock where we came into more cloudy skies. We also woke up to more cloud on Friday, but luckily no rain. At 10am we headed off for an hour walk to a gorge at one side of the rock, the kids being amazed at the size of it, but all Oliver wanted to do was to climb it!  Thankfully he was too young to be able to do this and unfortunately the wind was intensely cold and strong with expected rain so Ian and I were also unable to climb the rock today.....we will try again tomorrow!  We are also hoping for a little bit of sunshine so we can see the rock with a sunrise or sunset.

We also visited the Cultural Centre where Oliver had a lesson on Aboriginal history.  We then drove to the Olgas and competed the Walpa Gorge Walk.  We have been so fortunate with the kids and the walks. It is amazing how a lolly snake is a great motivation to encourage them to walk further! Kids continue to enjoy the playgrounds, bike rides and kick of the footy whenever they get the chance...and Oliver continues to introduce himself / and join in on other kids games when he can....certainly not shy !
