Saturday was great and was one of my best days so far. We woke up quite early and then headed to Pompeii. Pompeii is one of many Roman towns covered on the 24th April,79AD. We arrived in Pompei at about 10 o'clock in the morning. We got there by train. We straight away went to inside. One of the first things we saw were ruined houses and some big ruined building. The building was massive and had all these pillars everywhere.

We looked around and took some pictures of this shrine and then we saw it. In a dark and locked up corner was the statue of a roman covered in ash. He was sitting on this box. He had his hands covering his face.

We looked around some more and saw three more dead Roman statues. One was lying on a shelf in this pot place. There we about one hundred pots all worth a couple of thousand each because they are two thousand years old!!!

We looked around some more and saw more old buildings. We walked around and then stopped for lunch. We had PIZZA!!!!!!!!!! After having pizza we went back outside and saw some more bodies of Romans. Some were really good and you could see their sandals and their feet. Then after seeing them we went outside and Pompeii showed us some nice kind weather and started raining. It started as just a light drizzle and then started pouring down. Then being us we took refuge in a ruined, old house. Amazingly of all the houses the one we were in had a roof.

After taking refuge in the house we went to Amphitheatre. It was like a mini colosseum. We looked around there and saw all these little tunnels. Sadly we couldn't go in because they were all blocked up and for guided tours only. After looking at that we left Pompeii.

When we left it was very wet. When we arrived at the train station to get back it started raining again and this time we had no shelter. We were standing in the hot and rainy weather for fifteen minutes and then finally the train came. We just got seats and it was a nice dry way back.

Pompeii was great in the end. I learnt a lot and it was amazing touching stuff that was 2000 years old.
