Hi,

I'm now with Prahla'd, the yogi (don't start Trace ;o) at his fantastic place right next to the border of Brittany.  My trip from Chinon on the train went well and I arrived at Retiers on Friday night, in the rain, Prahla'd came to collect me and showed me around the place - all metre thick walls, steps and a gap in the kitchen ceiling as he wanted to let some light in...  He made me a lovely nettle stew that night (it's like being 19 again and all healthy like) and we chatted.  I met the gorgeous little cat who was upset as her kittens had been homed and she was still looking for them, poor little love.  But she let me stroke her to make up for it and drank the milk Prahla'd gave her.  So very cute (the cat).

Then I was shown the garden - veg patch, fruit trees, little walkways cut through to seats and tents and lots of plants that people call weeds and he and I call useful (like the nettles).  The veiw is fantastic, out over farmland and woodland and dinner can be eaten under the trees.  Lovely.

The next morning, in bright sunshine, I had great fun up a ladder picking the small red mirabelle plums for jam and then borage flowers for his medicines (he's a herbalist), so you can imagine this is right up my street!

As ever with this volunteering malarky it takes a day or so to settle in as let's face it you just take a train, bus, whatever, plonk yourself in someone elses house. look around going, 'ok, what's going to happen this time?' and hope it'll go well and it certainly is here so far!

I have loads I want to say about the place, but  I'm writing this sat in Prahla'ds room and I know he wants to study, so I"m going to close now and catch up again later in the week.  Maybe I'll write a diary then I won't forget bits!

Take care,

Rxxx
