Overnight bus to Illheus 10 Nov

From Salavor overnight to Illheus -- 7 hours. Heading to a lovely beach. Donīt ANYONE panic because I have finished my last book. I know it might seem like nothing, but having a book to read is critical. Spent a good part of the 10th looking for bookstores in Salvador. And after hours of looking, we managed to hear a rumor that near the bus station, at the big mall, there was a place to get English books.

So at the bus station, I leave Lisa to guard the bags and I run (literally)to the phantom mall that is meant to be over this (massive) road. Nice pedestrian bridge, and super a HUGE mall. Granted itīs 945pm and I am certain things must close at 10.

Not one map of the mall. No information booths and everyone has that īno way do i speak English lookī. So up and down and around and then I discover it has more that one floor (I suddenly remembered that I read it is the largest mall in Brazil. And Brazil is big.)

Finally a bookstore!! No English books.

Stupid country.

But wait! Using pig Spanish with the extra -o ending to make it Portugese, I find out that there is another bookstore that does in fact have English books. Suuuuure. Also it is on another floor. But I canīt get the guy to tell me which floor.

OK. So there is only one other floor. I somehow expected there to be 7. When I saw the store I got so excited I think I actually yelped.

Covered in a lovely lather of sweat I look around for 5 minutes before I asked...en ingles??!? And got taken to the holy grail of bookshelves. I picked up 5 immediately. Finally, after figuring out that they each cost about as much as a hotel room I decided on 2. Based primarily on number of pages and word size.

Made it back in one piece to Lisa and jumped on the luxury overnight bus (really) to Illheus. It was like being in Business Class...I had a great sleep, and didnīt even open one of the books.

Experience/suggestions anyone?
Hi!

I'm thinking to travel from Sao Paulo to Itacare, anyone has any suggestions?

One can fly to Ilheus, then take a bus. It's a little pricey, flight is like 350R one-way.

Thanks for any comments and URLs. :)
