Spent 11 hours on a fast boat going full speed down the Amazon. Left Iquitos at 6am and arrived at about 530pm. And keep in mind we were going between 80 and 100km/hr. It was a sit down boat...not a get up and walk around boat ... sort of like a small plane.
Met some Americans on the boat who came down to help build a church in the middle of nowhere. They were from Alaska and Montana and where having a blast. Big smiles all around.
There were 3 stops, not including the mail stops, one for fuel, one for Customs, and then the arrival at Santa Rosa. The Customs stop was great because there was a Parrot in the big shade tree we all waited under that threw out some great Spanish lines. Was such a surprise that even the boatmen were in tears laughing!
Met a few guys who wanted to be our guides and show us to a nice hotel. Went with them in a boat to Letecia, Colobia (about a 7 minute boat ride)...and agreed a hotel.
I felt awful, so curled up next to the toilet and thought about the Ritz in London....
