The Qumran community always in need of a bath. Religious purity was of the utmost importance, and the Qumran ruins clearly communicate the importance of water in ritual purification. As the pictures communicate water traveled throughout this desert complex. They were waiting for the day of the Lord, the coming if the Messiah, which they believed was coming soon. What they missed as an isolated apocalyptic community always striving for holiness was that the Holy One had come, but not to usher in the end of the world, but to save world from wickedness. Jesus did not remove himself from the impurity of sinner, but walk in the midst of the uncleanness of the world. His blood would cleanse me of sin and usher in a new freedom that would be for all the peoples of the earth. Oh, would the Jewish people see Jesus as their righteousness and freedom.
