Where I stayed
today: right now its 11 o clock. So actually there is a stop of electricity from 8-10o clock in the morning 14- 15 and 20-22 o clock in the evening in the whole city. Well, that doesnt sound so bad.
But it means actually much more. So we went out for lunch yesterday and the toilet and tab wasnt working anymore because its all related to a waterpumb which doesnt work without electricity. So in the moment we have some problems with our pump in our hotel... which means even we have electricity we cant take showers.
Specially for the guys who have some stomachproblems its not really easy ;-)))
Ouside its 40 degrees in the shadow and all of us (guys from spain, australia and ireland sitting upstairs on the woof and checking different 3ways through the mountains.
Its def. not a good time for traveling in Pakistan. The Taliban getting more and more power over big citys in the west like Peshawar, there are a lot of protests on the street against facebook and america and the biggest problem: there was a big landslide along the Karakoram highway which stopped the water running down the river and made a big lake (18km long and 100m deep). Exactly that landslide will brake during the next 7 days and will destroy all bridges and villages along the highway.
That was actually the target of my journey... Now I will go to a city were I will hopefully see some factories for leatherbags and after that go further to Islamabad and see what happed in the mountains.
Beside that I had some really funny situations on the streets or in restaurants. Pakistanis are the most helpfull people in the world. In india there is always some reason but in Pakistan people are just interested in you.
The first question which means a lot is: where do you come from? After they figured out that youre not from the US their faces get much more relaxed and they start to do every thing for you. So when you are looking for something- you can see how they start to think what might be your problem. So than they start to bring you chilly sauce because they think thats the stuff you missed. Or they grab your bag and put it next to you on the neighbour chair- so it doesnt have to stay on the ground... Its really funny.
Tomorrow I will probably go to the little town with the leatherbags so I wont be able to report for the next 2 days. Till than- have a good one and enjoy the electricity and workable toilets back home! ;-))))
