Saturday 24th August.
I rang Cool Waters Caravan Park between Yeppoon and Emu Park at 7.30am and managed to secure two powered sites for the next two nights. We left Rockhampton at 10am as we could not check in at Cool Waters until 11am at the earliest. We arrived just before 11am and set up the vans and then had lunch. Our van only just fitted length wise on the site. After lunch we drove down to Emu Park and found the Singing Ship which was erected in 1970 but we can't remember it from our last time here in early 2000. Emu Park has certainly changed with more housing and shops. We had a drive around the streets before heading to Rosslyn Bay to check out the ferry to Great Keppel Island tomorrow. The office was closed and will reopen at 3.30pm so into Yeppoon for a look.
A stop at Wreck Point Lookout for photo's on the way via Matthew Flinders Drive around the coast road. Once in town it was down towards the main beach for more photo's then a walk around the streets before stopping for a cuppa at the Coffee Club on the Esplanade.
On the way back to the park we stopped at the ferry terminal for some info for tomorrows trip to Great Keppel Island. Back at the park there was a hot rod club staying and they had their cars on display. Some of the paint jobs were amazing and their attention to fine detail was evident in the finishes. Around 5pm we sat in front of the ipad and watched the Geelong Sydney Swans game with Geelong winning comfortably. By then it was quite cold so it was back to the van to cook dinner and watch tv.
Sunday 25th August.
It was off to Great Keppel Island this morning on the 9.15am Ferry. The weather was fantastic and the ferry trip took half an hour to reach the Island. The ferry noses onto the beach and a stairway to the beach from the front of the boat allows you to walk directly onto the beach. We walked to the Hideaway Haven Resort for a morning coffee before taking a 30 minute walk to Long Beach which turned out to be about 45 minute walk. The beach was beautiful with a bit of a breeze blowing. We sun baked and only Dave went into the water as it was very cold.
Lunch followed then about 1pm we headed down to the other end of the beach to follow the track over the point to Monkey Beach. The ferry was anchored near a reef with people snorkelling on the reef. We missed the track to take us back to the resort so Dave and Lynne continue along the rocks back to the Fisherman's Beach.  Sue and I back tracked until we found the track then headed back to the resort following the track through the bush. It was very strenuous and Sue needed to stop for a rest and cool down numerous times.
We arrived about the same time as Lynne and Dave at Fisherman's Beach. We headed towards where the Ferry was to leave but I decided to have a swim to cool down. Lynne and Dave headed further around to the point and had a swim also. Back at the Resort we had some refreshment before boarding the ferry for the return trip to Rosslyn Bay. From there it was back to the van to get ready to leave tomorrow for a free camp near Gladstone.
By 6pm we retired to the vans for dinner and watch tv with our respective talent shows beginning at 6.30pm.
