A leisurely start to the day, all settling back after the Oregon trip. But it became a day filled with interesting and very varied experiences!!! We all took the bus into Seattle, and spent some time visiting Carole and John's daughter Nicole and her family - husband Jon, and Haley now almost 10 and Toby who is 8. That was fun, we always enjoy catching up with them, and Amr bonded with Toby teaching him a card trick. (He and Charlie should get together and compare notes). Then we took another bus downtown and first wandered round Capitol hill and sojourned in a boutique coffee shop that Amr had found on the net. Then we went on to the Olympic hotel where Amr was going to a watch shop...he had been communicating with them for a while....it is one of the original posh hotels and was rather lovely to wander round while Amr did his watch thing, and I had a chance to chat to Michael and Lisi!!

Then we walked from there to a Whole Foods market which is near Seattle center and a possible source of food for the Ring! We were looking at possibilities for Meg and Stephen and us to get a dinner picnic during the Ring! So that was all helpful, plus we found another food market even nearer....so it was all good, and we are full of ideas for transport to the Ring etc.etc. it was a beautiful afternoon, the rain and thunderstorms never eventuated, and the temperature was very pleasant, and a light breeze.

Then came the highlight of the day - the mystery event that had been planned and talked about for many months!! We met up with Bob and Ann and had an early meal at Toulouse Petit (I think that is correct name). Lovely place, good food and not too big servings which can be a problem here! THEN we went to ----the Roller Derby!!! That is a concept I did not know about even, and was presented as a counter-culture experience to balance our Ring!!! It is very tough, athletic and tattooed girls roller skating round a ring - 2 teams trying to block each other and getting round first.....lots of noise and action, and completely impossible to describe...you need to be there. It was some Seattle teams versus New York teams. We saw the Seattle Rain of Terror play the Wall Street Traitors, and then the Rat City Rollers versus the Gotham
All Stars....(we did leave before it was all over....there is a time when enough is enough, but is certainly was a new experience of a different world. Wow!

On return had a little wine nightcap to settle down...
