Well where has all the time gone! We've been in Perth for 6 months can you believe?? We've lived in our lovely home for 4 months and I have now been working for 10 maybe 11 weeks.
It's bizarre. It feels like we've only been here for a month tops. The weeks are whizzing by seriously. We wake up Monday morning and before we now it Friday is here and we are getting ready to enjoy another weekend. I'd love to say that it's been really hot and sunny but it hasn't we've probably had just as much rain as you have back in England; well perhaps not as much as Sheffield!! But we have had a lot and to be honest it is much needed however we are so looking forward to summer coming back around though we have a few months before we get there yet. Even though we are in the midst of winter you think most days are fresh crisp autumn mornings and hazy spring evenings. The lowest temperature is around 16 degrees during the day so it's nothing like the cold harsh winters of Yorkshire!
So we haven't really been up to much except working, working and working. I guess I better tell you a bit about my new job. Obviously I can't say too much due to confidentiality but I can tell you that my boss Peter is quite funny, a little eccentric and we get on pretty great. He shouts at me, I shout back at him. We both laugh and some times agree to disagree then just get back to work! He's originally from New York and has spent his life working on the stock market and knows his stuff for sure. I've learnt so much and still have a millions more things to learn but I am loving every minute of it. Its great to be busy again, the days fly by and some days are harder than others but it's all good.
It was the end of the financial year last month so on Friday we had a works dinner. It was ok I guess. Dinner was booked for 7pm we eventually sat down at 8.20 by which time several of us were close to having starved to death and I was past hungry by the time my $45 chicken pasty arrived!! They paid so what does it matter to me! But I should have had the filler of beef. Ben came to meet me around 10ish and finally got to meet my boss and some of the people I work with. One of the lads at work thinks us English people are crazy moving to the most isolated place on earth but me I love the piece and quite! No I didn't get pissed cause we have another party to go to on Saturday night.
So on Saturday day we went shopping for food mostly but popped into the bottle shop to get me something to drink as I'm so bloody fussy! I got the shock of my life when whilst looking in one of the fridges I see several bottles of IRON BREW WKD!!!!! Bring it on! So I stacked more than a few bottles in our trolley only to get to the checkout and realize that we didn't have enough money!! Anyway we scraped enough money to get 8 bottles which I guess is enough; well it will have to be won't it!! Also the party is fancy dress. The theme is D7. Why? Because it's Di's birthday and it's 07/07/07. Ben did go and look at a few fancy dress shops but we just can't afford it so we decided to get creative! Ben decided to go as a diver since he has all the gear and Mick (Di's husband) and Ben decided I should go as a dice so Ben got a box, sprayed it white and then sprayed some black dots on it, cut some arms out and hey presto I'm a dice! It looked pretty cool I have to say and when we walked in it was pretty funny. Check out the pics. It didn't take long for me to become a table with everyone placing their drinks on the corners on the top of my dice! We had a great night with lots of laughs and Mark was dicing with death before the night was out!!
We expected it to go on all night as a great aussie party should but alas by midnight everyone had drunk more than enough; Ben passed out in a chair in the garden beer still in hand so Di and I made up the sofa bed, Ben moved to the chair next to it and passed out again, a few hours later he made it to the floor next to the bed then a few hours after that he finally made it to bed by which time it was almost time to get up!!!!!
On Sunday Ben went diving and saw a sea horse the pics are not very good but I thought I'd put a couple on for you to see.
To be continued. . . . .
