The day we got on that plane, searching for a new life,
We knew we wouldn't regret it even when we got into strife!

We touched down here in Delhi, around 2 am,
Cleared customs at last, our bodies tired and lame.
We booked a taxi to Paharganj,
In need of some sleep, in this very strange land.
The sights and sounds of Delhi, we never will forget,
Here is the place where a cow is your pet.
There are pigs and chickens just wondering the streets,
All hoping they won't become something we can eat.
The smells of Delhi will stay here in my nose,
Long after they have been washed out of my clothes.

We hired a driver for 6 days and 5 nights,
His name was Paveen; he drove us around the sights.
A small funny man who really made us laugh,
Always loosing his keys while I dreamed of having a bath.
He prayed we'd see the tiger here in Ranthambore,
Roaming around freely on his huge four pours.
Oh what a splendid yet scary sight,
When he came and sat beside us, I hope he won't bite!
The Taj Mahal is amazing to see, it's glitzy, gleaming and white,
Even when the sun is set the moon makes it shine so bright.
We took hundreds of photos before we stepped on that train,
It's time to leave Paveen behind until we meet one day again.

36 hours stuck on a train, what kind of crap it this?
They told us it would be 22 I'm sure you're getting the jist!
We have no choice so just endure the ride,
We'll soon be there at the sea side.

Goa is where we caught up with Bill and Co,
To sit and tell all our tales of woe.
They laughed with us in the Rovers Return,
Keeping out of the sun so we would not burn.
We played in the sea and fought off huge waves,
I knew I'd loose my knickers one of those fine sunny days!
Ten days we had with friends from back home,
It will soon be just a memory as we get ready to roam.

Its time to move on to beautiful Hampi,
The land of ruins and no electricity!
The second day there it began to rain,
It's like being in Yorkshire, oh what pain!
Two homes we had here, we couldn't decide,
So across the river for 3 days we did ride.
Then back to Sanju's for Holy Celebration,
And a mind blowing experience, oh what elation.
I've traveled half way around the world sitting here in the Mango Tree,
When a voice says "are your Rosey, you went to school with me"
Twenty years it has been since we spoke,
'See you in another twenty' we joke.

We took the bus from Hospet, the closest bus station there is,
The driver tried to kill us; he was more than a little pissed.
'Two westerners on my bus, no way you can bloody walk'
'I refuse to take you and your bags' I'm sure I heard him squawk.
'You have no choice' the inspector man said 'They have to catch your bus,'
'Well if that's the case on the way I play chicken with the circus trucks.'

Bangalore is where we met Santa; it was 90 flaming degrees,
He took us on a magical mystery tour, where we became part of a tree.
He can't drive a sledge here in this heat; the reindeers would surely strike,
So he drives round in a yellow tuk-tuk, which is basically a three wheeled bike.
He tried his best to speak English, but I'm afraid it wasn't very good,
My time was mostly spent laughing, while Ben just misunderstood.
We met Martin and Caroline who told us what we should do,
'Log your tales on Travel Pod; they'll plot a map for you.'

We said our farewells its time to move on to Mysore,
I became depressed and a little stressed at all the begging I saw.
'A market town with an English feel' is what our guide book told us,
So I was a little shocked when of Glastonbury the locals made such a fuss.
Which dumb ass tourist told this tale I of course will never know,
But I'm a 100% sure that he/she was still fucking stoned!

Next on the agenda was Chenni, what the hell are we doing here?
There is nothing to do and nothing to see, not even a bloody beer!
We found Coffee World it was quite a walk, on caffeine I am hooked,
But that's not enough to make me stay, lets pack and run like fuck.

Mamallapuram; its Hampi on Sea, a fishing village not far,
Let's catch a bus for the two hour drive; surely we'll come to no harm.
We blagged a room right on the sea, with air con, fridge and TV,
Cheap it was at half the price, I have to say it was really nice.
Here I became a biker chick as Ben drove us around,
Even though it was old and knackered it didn't make much sound.
We found a pub called Lounge@home, all trendy and very posh,
We sank a few beers with 'Yorkshire Pud' and spent a lot of dosh.

Now it's time for a taste of all things French here in Pondicherry,
We wondered round the streets for hours not feeling very merry.
Dumass Rue we can't stay here this surely is a joke,
We have to be in by 10pm oh god I need a smoke!
We finally found the French hotel and coffee.com,
Even though the coffee's great we won't be here long.

The train ride to Tritchy really wasn't so bad,
But now we are here it's a bit of a dump and I'm again feeling quite sad.
There's nothing good to eat, I could kill for a nice juicy steak,
I'm getting the feeling we made another mistake!
Let's head for the mountains where it's nice and cool,
A part of India which is a real jewel.

Kodaikanal is a trek and a half if you are catching the bus,
I was minding my own reading a book when a fight broke next to us.
Are these people mad, the bus is packed there's barely any room,
To swing a cat let alone a punch I hope we get there soon!
The sun had set by the time we arrived and everyone's waiting to see,
Some guru man who seems quite insane, please stay away from me.
We walked though clouds and it rained a bit but it really didn't matter,
It's nice up here out of the sun taking walks and having a natter.
They are trying to sell us thick winter coats, scarves and wooly hats,
Your having a laugh it's colder in Yorkshire than here the Western Ghats?
The added bonus here is there's not one single tuk-tuk,
They'd never get up that hill the engine would be fucked.

On to Munnar the land of tea it covers miles and miles,
Here we met the honeymoon couple who really made us smile.
They're stalking us now I'm sure of it they're every where we go,
They take our picture we laugh some more; we'll see them again we know.
At 8pm everything shuts so we are confined to our room,
We watch TV and just chill out; it will be time to move on soon.

Oh my god it's Good Friday our bus ain't gonna come,
The honeymoon couple says 'its ok we catch another one'
We catch the bus they recommend, 10 of us in all,
The journey seems to take for ever; I need to make a call!
Where the hell are we now this place is a ghost town what are we gonna do?
The honeymoon couple hijack a jeep 'come on there's lots of room'
Please tell me you're joking we can't fit in there, 10 people and all of these bags,
'Tie them to the roof and squeeze yourself in', have I time for a fag?

We made it to Kumily I'm not sure how making all them stops,
To pick up and restack the bags that kept falling off the top.
It's raining again its really quite cool watching the monkeys play in the trees,
Tomorrow we're going trekking in the jungle; a guide, Ben and me.
Oh what a disaster we can't camp out; too many leeches we are now told,
Well someone should have said before the bloody tickets were sold.
It's time to head off to some where knew,
Cochi someone said is the next place for you.

So here we are in Cochi having lots of fun,
Ben's trying to catch some fish, of course he caught none!
At sunset we watched the dolphins frolicking in the bay,
It's really nice and peaceful a perfect end to the day.
We were accused of stealing a phone; please do I look like a thief?
Some people really amaze me this is way beyond any belief.
We must leave the beautiful sunsets to all the fishermen,
We need to pack our bags up and head off once again.

The backwaters of Alleppey we loved; we spent a few nights in a hut,
With an outdoor bathroom and cockroaches; let me stand on you with my foot.
A rice boat we did hire for two days and lovely nights,
We slept under the stars and saw lots of beautiful sights.
We drank a few beers and played a hundred games of cards,
We had to tow a boat back to the knacker's yard.

Its time to move on to Varkala so let's take the boat,
Shall we stop at the ashram, maybe not is the vote.
We're back beside the sea, on cliff tops way up high,
We blag a really cheap room under this blue beautiful sky.
We'll stay here for a week; enjoy the peace, just chill,
Ben will have a few beers sitting up here upon this hill.

Our final port of call is Trivandum another busy city,
It's getting way too hot now; all this heat is making me dizzy.
Our time in India is nearly finished we've had so much fun,
Three months we have been here, where has all the time gone?

We have met some wonderful people and made plenty of friends,
We've been to amazing places and hoped out time here would never end.
To India we will return one day of that you can be sure,
Until then we'll travel some more on this our first world tour.
