The bus ride to Kochi was a seven hour nightmare and we have decided that any journey which takes longer than 4 hours will be done by train from now on.

We go straight to the fort side and stay at a small guest house called Wilson's. It would have been great if it wasn't so hot and we desperately need air con so we head straight out to find some where else. We bump into Jackie & David who are meeting Matt & Ally so we all go out for dinner and drink special tea (beer in a teapot), chat and swap tales till its bed time so we didn't manage to find any where else to stay.

The next day we are up early and set off again in search of an air conditioned room. We spend the whole day looking and have now seen so many we have forgotten which we like best. We end up bagging a room at Arches it's brand spanking new and end of season so its cheaper though not as cheap as we'd like. We bump into Matt & Ally enjoying a special tea so we join them, drag Jackie & Dave out from their Hotel and enjoy another night of telling tales and drinking special tea!

The next morning while Ben and I are having breakfast Dave comes in and tells us his phone has been nicked. We are stunned and even more stunned when he later accuses us of stealing it!! We are travelling with a laptop, 2 mobile phones and Ben's PSP and I am more than a little pissed to be accused of stealing a phone. At first I am upset then angry, I thought we'd made some good friends here and now I can't be bothered. We talk to Matt & Ally and head down to the fishing nets to watch the dolphins as the sun is setting. We have one last drink before they head off up to Goa and we have an early night.

Most of the next day is spent watching the dolphins and watching Ben trying to catch fish, which just isn't happening for him. He's using a piece of fishing line coiled round a plastic pop bottle with 2 bolts for weights, a large silver hook, using bate he got off a local fisher man. He catches nothing. One of the locals must have felt sorry for him as he lent him his fishing rod. I'm given the pop bottle with a part prawn on the hook so I join in. I have never fished before so my expectations of catching anything are zero. Something stole my bate several times and I did feel a tug on the line but figured it was the current of the water. Ben finally hooks something - a plastic bag. We all laugh. He still doesn't want to give up but I am board and hungry now so I persuade him to give up and go for dinner, a couple of special tea pots and an early night.

To be continued. . . .
