Hey everyone!  I'm going to do two posts very close together because it's currently Thanksgiving break, but I am yet to tell you all about Selina and I's girly weekend escape to Wickenburg! I promise this will be a short one!

Through an almost obscure family connection (mum's friend's future parents-in-law) Selina and I made our way to the Wild West for a horse-riding get away at the English ex pats' adobe style mansion!  Roy and Joan had quite the collection of Indian and western style art all over the house- it was rather beautiful.  Our lovely hosts took us with them to a friend's dinner party which turned out to be for Roy's birthday (the secretive man!) and was a wine and cheese evening- delicious! Selina and I ate so much food we could've passed out there!

Despite the early morning (thank goodness I'm still hangover free), because were full of excitement for our ride it was very easy to get up.  Selina was partnered with a brown ex-roping gelding named Zip, and I with a sorrel gelding named Rooster, who was a good natured horse that I quickly became very fond of, despite his very bouncy trot causing me a lot of pain over the weekend haha.  We rode up one of the nearby volcanic hills to a lookout over the area- it was completely picturesque and felt like we were in a western movie!

After the ride Roy and Joan took us out to a beautiful ranch resort for lunch where, again, we stuffed ourselves- having real, delicious, food was hard to resist!  After trying half of the desserts (the buffet defeated me in the end) I know I needed the walk around town we took.  Wickenburg is a little western town and was great fun to tour with locals.  I also did a spot of shopping for some girlfriend's 21st presents that I'm missing while I'm over here- aren't you girls lucky!
When we got back I passed out until dinner time, which, thankfully, was a very light meal.  Selina and I settled in to watch Arizona beat Utah on their big screen before bed.

The next morning we headed out early again on our borrowed horses with different neighbours and saw a different part of the wilderness- and jackrabbits!  Back to the house for a Sunday lunch of Filet Mignon and veggies before heading back to Tucson and reality.  The weekend was truly perfect and just what we two needed- good food, rest, and good people. And horse riding of course!

Wow, that really was short- well done me haha. Anyway, time for me to go- Soon you'll get to hear all about my Indian style Thanksgiving at my roommate, Sneha's, family's place! Much love xx
