Today we headed out to Mount Rushmore. It did not disappoint. It is a spectacular sight. The displays that went with it were extremely well done. The parking was well organized. That is always a worry when you are driving a motorhome. But they had special spots for smaller motorhomes.

Then we went to the Crazy Horse monument. It is no less spectacular. One difference between the two is that Mount Rushmore is federally funded and Crazy Horse is privately funded. Along with the partially finished sculpture of Crazy Horse on the side of the mountain, there is a huge museum dedicated to Indian artifacts. It is very professionally done. They have a smaller scale model of the sculpture and a wonderful movie telling the story of how the sculpture came to be.

We spent some time in nearby Keystone where there is a wonderful wax museum dedicated to the presidents of the United States We also explored some of the shops in the town before settling into a campsite for the night.

Wax museums are so creepy! The Black Hills are beautiful. I wonder why they've never added any more presidents to Mount Rushmore?

I guess it is way too expensive. The Crazy horse one is being privately funded and it will take, I think they said 60 years to complete. It is costing millions. They are just so massive.
