We drove along the spectacular Oregon coast today. We stopped outside Florence at the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and climbed the sand dunes to view the sea.It was jean weather today. (Yes we are leaving the Northwest where it was around 100 degrees F while we were there and heading south!) The sand dunes went on for about 60 miles. We stopped several times along the way to view the wonderful seashore and all its rock outcrops. We drove through mountains and along passes that dropped many hundred feet to the sea. Finally we crossed into California. Almost immediately for the first 15 miles or so were flat fields where Easter lilies are grown commercially. Then we headed into the Redwoods. We stopped early at Klamath as campsites seemed to be filling up quickly. Among interesting road names we saw in Oregon today were "Slaughterhouse Lane", and right next to it "Lords and Ladies Lane" and then "Seven Devils Road"...
