Hey Everyone,
Just thought I would drop you all a line to let you know that I plan on updating my blog as soon as possible. I have been keeping a journal for some time now and will fill in the missing pieces of my journey through Europe in the not too distant future.
My time in Europe came to an end on May 26 when I flew from Rome to Cairo and for the last 2 weeks I have been travelling through Egypt with an Overland Tour (I'll explain this later). Currently we are staying in Hurghada, a resort town on the Red Sea where it is said that Moses parted the aformentioned body of water.
I have attempted on a number of occasions over the past couple of weeks to sit down in an internet cafe to get caught up but have found that air conditioning is non-existant in these types of establishments. Needless to say, sitting in an enclosed space on a computer when the temperature outside reaches 48 degrees is not my idea of a good time.
Egypt is an amazing country and it has been surreal to find myself standing at the foot of the Great Pyramids of Giza, camping under the stars in the Sahara Desert, floating down the Nile on a felucca, or marching through the desert on the back of a camel. The heat is stifling, the people generous and friendly, the traffic terrifying, and the beggars relentless.
I can't wait to fill you in on all of the details, and as we make our way back to Cairo I look forward to the continued journey onward through Jordan, Syria, and Turkey before finishing up in Istanbul in 4 weeks time.
I hope everyone is doing well back home, and don't worry, I haven't forgotten about you :-)
Ross
PS Go Hawks Go! They finally win the Cup and I'm not around to see it...
