Cannot believe I finally made it to Hawaii during my lifetime! The landing into Honolulu airport on Oahu was breathtakingly surreal! Saw Pearl Harbor and the Arizona memorial...such a small area caused so much change in the world. Even saw Doris Duke's home Shangri La. The air smelled tropical and the temperature was 80 degrees with a breeze and sunshine...total perfection for me. The puffy white clouds were too perfect. Met several passengers who were going on the Star Flyer, too. Met Ed & Sue from Palm Desert, CA who have been in contact with me for several months on the internet. They are fantastic, well educated, very interesting and have traveled extensively throughout the world. After a 4 hour layover, our plane was delayed for an additional 3 hours due to mechanical problems. We eventually were put on another plane, with Ed & Sue sitting right behind me. We got to know each other fairly well. Of course, I had more champagne and the royal treatment. Hawaiian Airlines personnel are wonderful! Finally, after watching the sunset, we took off for another paradise, Tahiti.
