Ros 14/05/2006

We travelled to Split on the Adraditic coast of Croatia on the night train from Zagreb. I seemed to wake up all through the night at every station and jump out of my skin every time the conductor checked our carrige for new passengers. Dave being Dave sleept right through. They also tried to cook us alive with the heaters that you cannot switch off!!!

The landscape has changed dramatically and it was nice to wake up and try and spot the sea, we have been so looking forward to getting to the Croatian coast. As we got off the train we were greeted with local ladies offering you accommadation. We had already booked ours so we headed off to it. Following the directions that were in very bad english. We walked from the station around the harbour and past the Diocletians Palace, past the main square found the right street. We were then stumped. Dave left me to look after the bags while he had a good scout around. A man sat opposite me and was eating a pastrey that he had found in the bin. I was quite shocked as I have led quite a sheltered life. Thats the one thing that I thought wouldn't effect me so much. We saw a lot of beggers in Budapest, ladies who sat with there babies and begged. I don't think you notice it as much when you are at home.
