Arrived today, pretty uneventful. Zadar is home of the Sea Organ, which is pretty cool, it makes these noises, like an organ as each wave comes in. At different pitches and loudness based on the sizes of the waves, so when a ferry goes by, it gets a little wild. Not too wild, just the right amount of wild. There's also the Greeting To The Sun right next to it. Its solar powered, and charges during the day, then turns into a crazy disco party at night… Ok well, it does get psychedelic, and changes colors, and flashes, and kids run all over it having a good time. Walked around, prices of a bottle of beer at the restaurants and bars seem to be about 13 Kuna. ($2.50 USD) English was noticeably poorer than Sweden, first bar didn’t understand me when I asked for a beer, and both had problems when I asked for a local beer or Croatian beer. They both asked if I wanted a Becks??? I still can’t pronounce either of the main beers here, they are Ožujsko and Karlovačko . I heard The Strokes the other day, so I downloaded their albums and am listening to them in chronological order on the bus from Zadar to Split.
So let’s keep the soundtrack going with The Strokes – Someday AND The Strokes – Last Night… Ohh snap… did I just pick two songs?
