It had been good to be back in our own beds and Andrew did confess to not wanting to get on his bike again, but after managing to find some new wheels to replace the buckled ones, off he went! We followed at a more civilized time and met up at a nice little tea van in Kendal. This turned out to be a very prestigious tea van as they had witnessed the record breaking LE- JOG ride, unfortunately the lady didn't have time to stop for a cuppa. Next stop Penrith KFC carpark. (We did finally realise that you can't get a mobile signal underground at Rheged, so dragged ourselves away from shopping, drinking coffee and reading the newspaper and went outside to discover a few missed calls- oops!) Joe is getting good at brewing up in unusual places and we managed to overcome our shyness and wave the banner the children had made! After raining all morning, Andrew enjoyed a sunny ride as far as Carlisle. He managed to get a good speed up along the Roman road. Unfortunately the last leg to Langholm( in Dumfries and Galloway) was in rain but he rode up the High Street just in time to meet us and decide what he would like for tea at The Eskdale Hotel- beef risotto- yum. I even managed to order him the right beer, with a bit of advice from one of the locals!    Susie

Day four was 129 miles and went pretty well. After climbing from Kendal up to Shap the road from Penrith to Carlisle was fast and the sun shone for about five hours during the day. Arrived at Langholm at about 7.45pm. Passed the half way mark on my way to Kendal.  Andrew
