Today we had a lie in because it was very late when we got to bed and we were all really tired (dad didnt get a lie in though ) We had a very nice cooked breakfast but because of all the washing up and stuff after it we were only out of the room by 10.30 even though we were supposed to be out by 10.00. After we handed the keys in we went to look at the old diserted church next to the hostel that we stayed in . Me and joe went and looked around the back seeing whether there was a door that hadn't been locked so we could go in (there wasn't). It was really oveer gown so i got stung by stinging nettles and cut by thorns . At the youth hostel there were teepees you can stay in . After we looked at the church we set of to catch up to Dad and we caught up to him in shrewsbury were he met some freinds who cycled the last 70 miles with him. After that we just got home and I came on the computer and everyone else watched tely then went to bed but Mum made Dad a bean Jar for him to eat when he got home at about half 10 .

DAYS 2 + 3  By Andrew
had a great time cycling through Devon and Somerset (the Mendips were a lot more hilly than I remembered ). Hit the 1/4 way mark on the Severn Crossing. Cycled briefly into Wales and up the Wye Valley to Welsh Bicknor. Arrived at 10.20 pm , in bed by 1.00 am. Later starting on Saturday so had to push hard to cover the 75 miles to Shrewsbury to meet Andrew, David and Harvey from Horwich.Iit was great having company for the last 75 miles o the `home-leg`.
Total distance to date is 397 miles, average speed 13.7 mph and total time peddaling is 28 hours. Several periods of very little energy but saved by snack vans and "Little Chefs " and of course my Family who have been brilliant. A big thankyou to Andrew, David and Harvey for sharing the burden with me, and thankyou to all who have sent texts, comments on the travel log and their good wishes.

Shrewsbury to Horwich
It was a pleasure (well kind of, considering all of the rain which we had yesterday!) to cycle back, from Shrewsbury to Horwich with you yesterday. It was probably the fastest average speed bike ride I've ever done, and considering that you'd already cycled 70 miles yesterday before we met, it was unbelievable how fast you were cycling!

I hope that the ride from Horwich to John o' Groats goes really well for you and that you get good cycling conditions, including a good tail wind on that 10 mile climb up to Drumochter Summit!
Enjoy!

Best wishes,

Andrew Morley.
