Hi All
Well I made the 10 hour train journey with the company of a French lady, so not much conversation was had, as she spoke little English!
Montreal - what a chilled, clean, and french city. I visited several museums - architecture, not worth it; Montreal History- great this is on the site where Montreal was born (as such)and has great archaeological bits too. I wandered around the city alot - street level and below, the shops below are great and obviously when they have a proper winter - not like now (8-10 C) this is the place to be and keep warm.
I discovered an Irish Bar - hee hee I know - called Grumpy's Bar- managed to get a cider it's very strong over here - 7-8%, great - I only had the one though as it was 3pm!!
Food is fantastic, and I have felt completely safe walking around the streets in the dark- so no worries for Mum and Dad!! Last night I went cultural and went to the Notre Dame Basilica light and sound show - it gave the history of the church and was surprisingly interesting and very well thought out with the lighting etc.
My room here is New York is OK - with a very creaky bed!! It is 5 minutes from Penn Station and just across the road from TGI Fridays (where I've just eaten) at Madison Gardens for those of you who know New York.
I am planning an early start tomorrow as I am only here for 3 days so alot to do. I travel back to Montreal by train (another 10 hr's) on Wednesday.
Hope you are all OK
Ronnie

Hiya,
10 hours on the train - mental! Sounds like the District Line. My only New York tips are See the Statue Of Liberty for free by riding the Staten Island Ferry ... and the Brox Zoo is free on Wednesdays - but you're off then eh?

Hi, we are glad to hear that you are having such a great time there. Trust you to find the Irish Bar I hope you had the obligatory Guiness as well as the cider. I am sat here with a cup of tea watching the rain lash up against the window, but hey ho there is always maidstone.
