Today is a Gaudi and Picasso cultural day.
On the first Sunday of each month some of the cultural venues have free entry. The Palau Guell Gaudi Palace, created for his benefactor, and Picasso Museum were free today.

We had breakfast in the centre of La Rambla where the city wall used to be and is now a major popular shopping street.

We did a walking tour of the Gaudi buildings. Casa Mila and Casa Batllo and Catalunya Plaza and Palau Guell and La Sagrada Familia.

It cost 20 Euros to tour the Casa Batllo so we just viewed it from the outside.

We had to line up for half an hour for the Gaudi Palace free tickets for the 5 pm entry. We had Tapas for lunch. After the palace audio tour we went to the Picasso Museum. We got free entry about 7.10pm and it was closing at 8pm.

We had Seafood Paella and Marguerita Pizza for dinner. Ron has San Miguel beer and I had a Sangria.

We stopped for Gelati on the way back to the Hotel.

Antoni Gaudí was born in Reus in 1852 and received his Architectural degree in 1878.

From the very beginning his designs were different from those of his contemporaries.

Gaudí's work was greatly influenced by forms of nature and this is reflected by the use of curved construction stones, twisted iron sculptures, and organic-like forms which are traits of Gaudí's Barcelona architecture.
