Had a pretty good night's sleep even though the bells on Christ Church Cathedral, which is across the street, chime every half hour. The last ones I heard were at Midnight bong, bong, bong, bong, bong, bong, bong, bong, bong, bong, bong, bong.!
Well the barometer shows a sunny day ahead. It ‘tis sunny but it is also very cool!! After breakfast, we walked over to Trinity College which was founded in 1592 by Elizabeth to “establish a Protestant way of thinking about God”. Beautiful Campus!
At 10:00 we took a little over 2 hour walking tour led by a History graduate of Trinity College
After the tour we had our tea and scone break and then headed back to our hotel for a bit. Bonnie and I decided we needed to look at a few more stores. Terry was off taking pictures and Ron said he join up with Bonnie & me later at the entrance to St. Stephen’s Green.
Bonnie and I arrived at the Park a little before Ron so we found a bench in the sun and enjoyed being warm for the first time today! After Ron joined us we walked down to the River Liffey and crossed over the bridge to a Woolen Mill store that we wanted to check out. Poor Ron -- he managed to be stay in the store about two minutes before he excused himself and headed out the door!! I didn’t buy anything but Bonnie got a nice scarf at the first store and a beautiful sweater at the second.
We then headed back to the hotel but did stop on the way at a museum which was displaying old photographs of the area.
When we got back to the hotel, we fixed some tea and relaxed a bit
He found a pub in an area we hadn’t yet been in so that’s where we ate supper -- I had Beef Stew and Ron had Irish Stew (I think the only difference was how the potatoes were fixed!) We both had our last Smithwicks which we both like. Will be interesting to see if it’s available in the U.S.
We are all packed up and set to go. We will leave the hotel at 7:00 am to catch the bus to the airport. It will be a longer trip back because we won’t have the benefit of the great tail wind we had on the way over.
It’s been a GREAT trip but I am really ready to be back home!!
