After the wurly burly of the Omo Valley and its wild variable tribal people we headed north to Addis Ababa - the rainy season was on so we gave up camping for most of the time we were in the highlands and stuck to cheap .... and I mean ... cheap hotels for the run north to Bahir Dar on the edge of Lake Tana - the source of the Blue Nile. From there we headed to the ancient capital of Gonder before a border crossing into the Sudan.

We gotta tell you the people of Ethiopia are a challenge - and we're used to beggars and begging but they take it to new heights in Ethiopia! In fact it is more of a demand ... and if you don't give them anything prepare for rocks to be thrown at you!!!!
