Still in Jesolo Lido, we decide to spend one more day on the beach before we continue to see more inland Italy. We spend the whole day on the beach, enjoying the sunshine, sunbathing to the perfection, doing stupid things on the matress, eating pizza and ice cream...
We go back to the van quiet late, it's about 8pm. As we are getting closer to the place where our van should be there is something wrong. After the quick look we can see some van with the decorations on it in the street but... it is not ours. We are all confused thinking Michèle was stolen, the guards pulled it away but not... the people living there see us and they are showing us pictures of our Michèle all BURNT.

Suddenly there are a lot of people speaking Italian, we understand nothing, we have no idea what happened. Fortnately there is Paulo coming, an Italian guy who speaks English and explains to us what happened

At midday when we where enjoying the beach the van started burning, there were flames three metres high. They were trying to save some things from inside but the van was all locked up. The guards who assisted at the accident have the van pulled away and they just left telephone number where we can get more info. They also told us that the bikes definitely survived because as they were hung on the van, with heat they fell on the ground.

There are also Patricia and Patrick, a lovely belgian couple, who helps with translation and as well. Later on Paulo and his girlfriend take us to the police station to find out what actually happened. But before we go there Paulo's friends and family members provide us with food, drink, some clothes (at the moment we have just swimwear, scarf, towels, snorkel, sun umbrella, matress, and Havana straw hat), they are just great, superb, adorable!
We go to the police station to sign all the papers. here is very funny police officer - as Paulo notices straight away he lookes like Pufo=Smurf=Schtroumpf, all blue in his uniform and very small, hence the picture on our blog. We get to know that Michèle was pulled away to the garage 11km away from Jesolo Lido (it is an Italian law, all faulty cars like that can not stay in public) and we can go to see it tomorrow.

After we call the insurance company and they provide us with a hotel for one night. However they give us a wrong name so it takes a while to find it...

After we go to the bar with Paulo and Sonia to drink and forget about the sadness...
