so, ya- my German New-year blob of metal. This is a german tradition whereby you melt a metal toy over a candle in a spoon, then drop it in cold water to see what random shape it takes (this being your future, of course). Like all good self-respecting omens, they are interpretive, and usually sexual. The four girls, for instance, were all rewarded with phallic blobs, and had no end of entertainment playing with them. I did not get a phallic blob (and I can´t tell you how thankful I was for this). It´s either a submarine, a tomb, a burnt out tree with a little bird on it, the virgin mary in a burka, or a speedboat, depending who you ask (I´m rooting for speedboat, obviously). So 2006 is going to be.............
