After deciding that taking the train or bus across Canada was not good for me mentally (it would have taken about 3 days by either method) I let the plane take the strain and few across in 3 hours...

Calgary is home of the Flames NHL team, when I got here the place was buzzing due to their crunch game against the Mighty Ducks on the 3rd. So in amongst walking the city for the first few days I managed to hit "Red Mile" which is where all the fans go to get pissed and watch the game, so not wanting to be rude I hit the town with a German guy I met..

The best thing, without doubt, about Calgary was staying with my brothers mate Rich, a great host that let me stay over for 6 nights (great to have home comforts after dodgy hostels) he also showed me around the town and took me to the best places (Aussie Rules)and spoilt me by taking me out to posh brunches (Banff Springs) and dinners (Stage West). Unreal!!

As well as driving around Calgary in Rich's car (The Shitbox) I also borrowed his bike and headed for the hills for a couple of days of punishment. I also managed to play my first game of Golf here for a while, (Shaganappi Golf Course) only a public course, but it beat the pants of off any muni' back home, I still played shit though, so some things never change!

Calgary was a great place and I loved it for its outdoor lifestyle, basically only 90 mins from the Rockies and having some good parks and woodlands, there's a good balance between the city and mountains. Everything you need to keep busy...

So after extending my stay in Calgary from 6 to 10 nights (sorry about that Rich) I headed up to the Rockies (The biggest reason why I came come to Canada, so I couldn't wait)....
