Started the day with a big sleep in then dropped the laundry off at a different Laundromat closer to the hotel and open for longer.

Quickly visited a museum in Fira to have a look at pots and other artefacts excavated at Akrotiri seeing the actual site itself is closed. Interesting enough but 45mins was long enough to see it all.

Picked up around 2.30pm for our caldera boat cruise on a cool catamaran.  Americans running the boat which was a surprise but nice in a way not to have to struggle to understand what they're saying.  We picked this one as the group size is smaller (about 20 people) so a bit more personal.  Our first stop was "Red Beach" for a quick swim.  It’s called this because the cliff above it is red (original huh?), and the bits that have eroded have formed a (very) narrow strip of red sand.  We then sailed past “White Beach”, below ... you guessed it ... a white cliff!  This one is just wide enough to squeeze in some sun loungers and is accessible only by boat, but there’s a guy who lives there & rents out the sun loungers!

Another swim & snorkel near the volcanoes in the middle.  Lots of fish here and the crew threw some bread in to encourage them to come around.  Jeff had a snorkel and said the rocks here looked quite new, with not much growing on them etc.  Unfortunately we didn’t swim in or visit the hot springs even though we’re both pretty sure that was mentioned on their brochure.  Hmmmm, it’s not just the Greeks who are dodgy!  Next we sailed over and anchored beneath Oia for our yummo bbq lunch.  All the food was really nice and we were both starving by this point as didn’t have any lunch and it was now about 6pm.  Best potato salad EVER too!  Saw heaps of fish jumping out of the water near our boat and one passenger jumped in and swam over towards them... only to have it stop as he got there, then he had to swim all the way back.  Had fun lazing in the catamaran netting between the hulls as we sailed back to port with the sun setting into the ocean.  We both really enjoyed the day. (The Pina Coladas probably didn’t hurt either!)

Picked up laundry – so much easier than our previous aborted laundry attempt, then headed back to the suite.  Our pillows each had a chocolate in a little paper cup on them and the bed had a footer with “Good Night” embroidered on it.  Awwww.  We really love this place.  They put in so much extra effort and always surprise us with little unexpected touches.

Back into Fira for a stroll, some take-a-way cake and a brief perusal of some kak shops. Donkey / rabbit / turtle porn salt & pepper shakers are popular for some bizarre reason!  Wabbinator.... should you be afraid?  ; )
