Today was one of the longest expected days of the itinerary, and so it turned out. We blasted along the motorway out of Belgium, then through the Netherlands th Neijmegan (sp?) and Arnhem, the "bridge too far" town. We looked at the Airborne memorial and the nice little information centre, then wandered over to the street market for fish & frittes. Then into Germany and our first Autobahn.

By this time we were about 400km down, bums were getting sore and we were sick of the Autobahn, so we decided to cut the corner and went bush following the GPS. Of course it took much longer, :) what with closed ferries and bridges, then the rain started. Out with the rain suits and we pressed on. \

We finally arrived in Hildesheim about 12 hours & 560 km after setting out

The hotel is fabulous (gotta love booking via the net!) and right on the town square reconstucted after the town centre was bombed flat in 1945. Pics will be great.

Hildesheim is the birthplace of my Great Grandfather ( dad's mum's dad) so it's a special place to visit for us.

Now grabbing pizza and trying to find WiFi we can hijack.
